Dana White is an American businessman, entrepreneur, and former amateur boxer. He’s best known as the President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Under his leadership, the UFC has grown into a global multi-billion dollar enterprise. Dana Frederick White, Jr. was born on July 28, 1969, in Manchester, Connecticut. His parents are June and Dana Sr. He has a sister named Kelly. White is a graduate of Hermon High School in Maine. He also studied at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, but never completed a degree.

CAREER
White began his amateur boxing career in his late teens. He also worked as a doorman at the Boston Harbor Hotel. He quit the hotel gig in order to focus on boxing. White spent more than a decade exploring different angles of the boxing world. He did everything from boxing himself to training and managing other boxers. He also opened gyms where he offered various workout programs. White moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, in order to avoid extortion from the Irish mob. While in Vegas he shifted focus from boxing towards mixed martial arts. He began managing MMA fighters like as Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell for the UFC. During his tenure as a manager, he discovered that the UFC was in financial trouble. This prompted him to contact his childhood friend Lorenzo Fertitta, an executive at Station Casinos.

Brothers Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta purchased the UFC in January 2001 for $2 million. They created Zuffa, LLC as the parent entity and named Dana White as the new president. White currently owns a 9% stake in Zuffa. He created the reality series ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ to help boost the UFC’s popularity. The show ran on Spike TV (2005-11) and later on FX (2012-12). It began airing on Fox Sports in 2013. Fights and replays can also be purchased on UFC Fight Pass. In 2012, Ronda Rousey became the first woman to secure a Zuffa contract to compete in the UFC. The UFC changed hands once again in July 2016. It was sold to WME-IMG for a reported $4 billion in July 2016. White remains as president of the enterprise. Under his leadership, the UFC continues to make positive growth. Fights are shown on various networks in more than 150 countries worldwide.

White was named Nevada Sportsman of the Year in 2009. He has been named “Promoter of the Year” and “Leading Man of the Year” on many occasions. He’s a recipient of the Patriot Award from the Armed Forces Foundation. White is also known for his feuds with Bob Arum, Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, Ken Shamrock, and Loretta Hunt. His television credits include series like The League, Silicon Valley, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Dana White is 5ft 11in tall and he’s of Irish descent. His net worth is estimated at $500 million. He reportedly made $360 million from the sale of the UFC in 2016. White married ‘Anne Stella’ in November 1996. They have three children, Dana III, Aidan, and Savannah. The family resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. White was diagnosed with Meniere’s Disease in 2012. He has since undergone surgery to reduce the symptoms.
